Hello Brides! Tis the season for Wedding Planning! I know this is the time that all the Christmas Engagement Excitement finally starts to settle down, and couples start to think about the actual wedding and what planning a wedding involves. One of the things I've found more Brides doing these days is shopping around. Some times it has to do with Budget, and some times it has to do with Preference, but it is definitely on the rise! Some of you might find this link helpful.
You'll find me listed on this site. One of the great things about Thumbtack, as opposed to The Knot or other similar sites is that you can actually ask for multiple quotes from a number of different vendors at one time. Hopefully you'll be able to find the best price on ALL your wedding vendors!
As the fall wedding season approaches, I tend to think about all the wonderful colors of the fall. Browns, and Reds, and Oranges. Yellows, and even Black and Purple. Fall is also the time when most people use more vibrant colors instead of pastels. I've seen deep Fushias, vital Greens and striking Golds. There are so many choices, and endless combinations! You also see a lot of themed weddings this time of year. Renn Faires are in full swing, so why not have a medieval themed wedding? Or the obvious but always fun, Halloween Wedding? Themes can add flair, but they also a great tool for keeping things looking consistant. A non- themed wedding might find it difficult to keep a consistant look, since there is nothing in place to govern the look. The Bride says "elegant," but that could be different for everyone. If the Bride were to say something more specific, like Victorian Elegance, now you have theme, and it will be much easier to maintain that consistancy. Not all themes needs to be as restrictive as Halloween, or Pirate. Victorian Elegance is a perfectly acceptable theme, but still allows for a lot of freedom. Well Ladies and Gentlemen, it's my turn. I'm getting married in April! We choosen Sage, and Lavender and our colors, with Hunter Green and Ivory as accents. I'm wearing a gorgeous Alfred Angelo dress, in Ivory. With Ivory cowboy boots! The bridesmaids are wearing one shoulder knee length dresses in Lavender, and the maid of honor is wearing the same style, but strapless, in Sage. Single guitarist for the ceremony, DJ for the reception. It's going to be a good old fashion country themed wedding. Wildflowers in pitchers on all the tables, and Lavender buds to throw instead of rice. I'd love to hear your thoughts on it all!



Ok, I'm sure most of you have done enough research to know that pastels go in the spring, and bolder, deeper colors are reserved for the fall. But I'm here to tell you that it just doesn't matter. If you've always dreamed of your girls walking down the aisle wearing hunter green, but your wedding is in the spring, fear not. There is NOTHING stopping you from having exactly what you want, except you. But if you feel pressured to have a pastel wedding in early spring, here are a few suggestions:
1. Choose a lighter shade from the same color family, and use the darker color that you love as an accent color.
2. Have your Maid of Honor wear the darker color to set her apart.
3. Choose a bright color to use as an accent to 'lighten' the feel of the whole color scheme.

The point, ladies and gentlemen, is that it is YOUR wedding, and what you want is what you get. As long as it's done with care and it's well thought out, no one will give a second thought to the colors.
